GRAMMY®-nominated American singer and songwriter, Iris DeMent returns to the Capitol Theatre! DeMent’s musical style includes elements of the folk and country music. You might recognize her song, Our Town, from the closing credits of the final episode of Northern Exposure and her song, Let the Mystery Be, which was featured in the opening scenes of the film Little Buddha and then became the theme for the opening credits of the HBO series, The Leftovers. DeMent began writing songs at the age of 25. Her first album, Infamous Angel, was released in 1992 and explored such themes as religious skepticism, small-town life, and human frailty. Her second album, My Life, was nominated for a GRAMMY® Award in the Best Contemporary Folk Album category.
